Affordable housing

In addition to creating the Royal Albert Dock as a destination for arts and culture, our masterplan principles also state that the development should include affordable housing

Land use and structure

The areas marked in dark blue show the sites where mixed-use buildings will be built. These will consist of 6 or 7 floors allocated to affordable housing. The ground floor will consist of commercial activities such as retail, businesses and leisure activities.

Location & integration with the rest of the area

Easily accessible - most of the affordable housing are on average only 350m away (roughly a five-minute walk) from the Beckton Park DLR station.

The two Grade II heritage listed buildings located nearby will be used as arts and culture and leisure venues. These venues will comply with sustainable mobility principle. This development has taken inspiration from the Mayor of Paris' Anne Hidalgo's concept of a 15 minute city.
